María del Rosario Cardona Ponce

Originally from Guadalajara, María del Rosario is a first-generation artisan dedicated to creating pieces in papier-mâché and cold-polychromed clay. She began learning these techniques at age 18 in a workshop held at El Refugio.

Her work reflects her personal view of life, giving each piece a unique and expressive essence. She is part of the collective 'Guardianas de la Cultura,' which strengthened her commitment to preserving artisan traditions. She has participated in exhibitions at the Regional Museum, the Tourist Attention Center in Tlaquepaque, the Museum of Popular Arts, and the Caballero Águila Museum in Cholula, Puebla.

Through Fundación Causa Azul A.C., she has taken part in the Encuentro Guardianas de la Cultura and the exhibition 'Nosotras.' For María del Rosario, being a Guardian of Culture is a great pride and responsibility.
