International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

Guardians of Culture

On August 9th we commemorate the International Day World's Indigenous Peoples, the goal of this day is to celebrate cultural diversity and give visibility to the efforts of original peoples.

In Mexico, 68 indigenous peoples exist with unique identifying traits such as artistic manifestations, forms of organization, spirituality and culture, in which their worldviews are portrayed.

Among their cultural expressions, we can find that of artisanship, language and gastronomy, through which indigenous peoples portray and share their cultural heritage, passing their knowledge from generation to generation.

One of the most representative forms of organization is the collective, to join efforts for the good of the community, as well as the preservation and permanence of each cultural identity.

As part of their worldview, the indigenous peoples share a harmonious relationship with nature, connecting with the earth, flora and fauna, and preserving the natural resources used to obtain the raw materials used to carry out different artisanal techniques.

For this, at Fundación Causa Azul A.C., we seek to share and give visibility to the cultural legacy and work of the indigenous peoples through our lines of action: artisan accompaniment, cultural dissemination, research and creating collaborative networks through outreach.

Let’s continue sharing the magic behind artisanship, from the source.
