Second “Guardianas de la Cultura” Encounter 2023 “Together We’re Unstoppable"
The Gathering of Culture Guardians “Guardianas de la Cultura” Encounter is an initiative of Fundación Causa Azul A.C. which comes from a program with perspectives on gender, promoting reflection, self-recognition and reevaluating artisanal trades, creating collaborative networks between artisan women to together create opportunities to promote and disseminate their techniques, as well as the exhibition and selling of their handicrafts.
In November of 2023 we held the second edition of “Guardianas de la Cultura” Encounter, in the context of “Together We’re Unstoppable”, where we joined 25 artisan women in a learning space that seeks to dignify and recognize their work by strengthening their skills and business competency.
During the encounter three workshops were given that provided professionalization tools, working with professionals who shared their experiences and advice in each topic:
- De la vista, nace el amor: Selene Rojas and Bernardo Ruíz, OPD Jalisco’s Museums, Exhibitions and Galleries
- Cuánto es lo más: Georgina Torres, Clase Azul México
- Guardianas de la paz: Estefanía Quezada, Clase Azul México
We ended the encounter with the “Guardianas de la Cultura” Pavilion that was held at the Regional Ceramics Museum in Tlaquepaque, a space for exhibiting and selling pieces with the goal of putting into practice the skills learned, as well as values of social solitary economy and promoting fair and responsible trade.
We especially appreciate the OPD of Jalisco’s Museums, Exhibitions and Galleries for opening their doors and joining efforts for the preservation of Mexican artisanal legacy.
We continue to work so that during 2024 we can add more Guardianas de la Cultura to provide them with the tools for their personal transformation through collective empowerment and articulation.
