From Zapopan, Alma Yareli is a second-generation artisan specializing in weaving with natural plant fibers and clay. She began learning at age 23 through books, videos, and online courses.
Her work is characterized by experimentation, particularly weaving directly onto clay pieces. She has been part of the international weaving collective 'Se va tejiendo' and has trained at the National School of Ceramics and with master weavers from Peru and Chile.
She has participated in events such as Corazón de Artesano and Ruta Artesana. With Fundación Causa Azul A.C., she has taken part in the Acciones Estratégicas II program and the Guardianas de la Cultura Pavilion.
For Alma Yareli, being a Guardian of Culture means promoting, caring for, and respecting Mexico’s cultural legacy.
