From Sayula, Laura Angélica discovered the ocochal technique in 2020 during the pandemic, when she returned to her rural hometown of Jalpa.
A group of women artisans taught her to weave ocochal, inspiring her to create 'Arte Ocoxal.' Her pieces combine traditional techniques with innovative elements in jewelry, basketry, and décor.
She has pursued studies in Digital Marketing, entrepreneurship programs, and artisan specialization diplomas, including those by Fundación Causa Azul A.C. Being a Guardian of Culture fills her with pride and responsibility, as it allows her to help preserve Mexico’s cultural roots.
